Stones have always been a big part of jewellery making. Stones and gems have been used for their colours, meanings and locations for hundreds of years. For example, thousands of years ago, certain stones and gems were only found in specific parts of the world. Although there was trade back then, the journeys were very long and arduous and could take many months or even years. Stones have been exported and imported from many countries all over the world and still to this day play an important role in our jewellery history.
